these are some portraits taken by michael currin at the old biscuit mill. we did a shoot there on saturday. i'm no model, by the way. i edited them for the sake of my own modesty. photoshop is pretty cool.

Imagine reading the contents of your secret diary kept all through highschool to an audience of 300 strangers in Washington DC.
Imagine divulging your adolescent fantasies and fuckups, your incessant agonizing over how to french kiss and the cringe inducing laments about that mortifying first date, where the both of you don't have a clue as to what to do with your hands and arms and raging hormones.
And then what happens when one of your parents finds your secret diary in the depths of your bedroom, where you thought you'd hidden it so foolproofedly? Well, these fess up sessions have become a new trend in London, writes Times.
Screenwriter David Nadelberg started Mortified parties in 2002, after unearthing an 'atrocious, overreaching' love letter he'd written to a girl in high school, but thankfully had never sent.
Instead of giving it to her, he said, he decided to give it to the world.
We all know what a crush feels like. That insect-like creature in your gut, the bubbling anxiety in your throat just itching to come out in a stream of words you'll later regret. Corny music on your stereo that you'd swear was playing just for you. The sweaty palms and hallway glances. Adolescent love letters that seemed perfectly romantic at the time. You thought you were the only one.

it was a father teaching his son how to fly a kite.
this is one of a boy's simplest lessons. there will be many more before he becomes a man.

excursion
the following photographs make up a single-lens reflex serial taken on one of the last good days of cape town's sunny months: photographers trailing the South, on the verge of a storm.
the weather was dandy and on its own course. the atlantic seaboard was sunny with a breath of wind (perfect for kite-flying). the promenade was warm, such that the bricks layed along the boulevard were warm beneath my feet. there were even some bathers at the pavillion pools, regardless of april and the waning of summer.
as we made our way towards the south we noticed a sheet of mist looming over the mountain, casting kalk bay in shadow. the waves below were becoming temperamental. the south easter was due without warning.

apparent fascination with public telephones: i wondered what would happen should i call the toll-free number on the box. sure enough, the old thing started ringing. i was quite keen to answer and then hang up again, giggling naughtily to myself.
this series pays homage to a certain telephone box on sea point main road outside of the seven-eleven. it reminded me somewhat of those delightful red phone boxes you see in london. it is the same shade of prominent red. otherwise, not quite so delightful.
