sally mann and lolita: loss of innocence

suggestive children who have lost themselves to immorality.

sally mann is an american photographer best known for her exploration of child pornography, exploitation, death and decay as well as portraits of her own children in black and white.

claims her first darkroom experience was motivated by wanting to be alone in the room with her then-boyfriend.

although her work contains nothing explicit, it is highly instraspective and suggestive of premature loss of innocence and adolescent sexuality.

her work has been received with criticism and has caused significant controversy. US moral trooper Randall Terry called it 'criminal garbage' and Mann's books were removed from some sympathizing shelves.
