excuses

once came across an island, far off the coast.

where i felt rather lost

people not sincere

too much food and drink

lethargy

apathy

people arrogant

people wasteful

excess.

felt lost and could not find my way back.

they said i should stay and sat me down.

seated me with chastising grin.

allowed me little time to think or grieve.

filled my glass right to the brim, and then again.

no matter how hard i seemed to try,

just couldn't get up and leave.
